Everything is soft and full of wind is a forthcoming collection of poems by Taylor Hanigosky.

Written over a distance of time when summer turned to winter. When desire for the feeling of earth on skin swelled so full with nowness and then settled so softly into the sand to rest. These writings are an offering of intimacy and vulnerability with land and with bodies and with self. A process of learning how digging into an ancestral sensuality can root a relationship of reciprocity between humanity and our home on this earth.

does a cool sage-colored bowl
hold dusty, low-casting sunlight?
can it fill to the rim
fluid and hot
and hold itself together and full
until tomorrow?
and what if i bury bowl beneath my breast
to tuck in warmth and bear with me,
will sun slosh up and around the sides?
does cool sage-colored bowl
have room for more?
does late afternoon heat
simmer unprovoked,
reduce by volume and in feel
to a viscous vermillion sap?
if you were to sink two fingers
into sticky sun syrup and
take a dollup for yourself, would
bowl open wide and thirsty
for another drink? and what if you
poured salty seas into this carried vessel.
would it cool desert canyon?
would dark silky waves slip up
and over those walls
to careen wildly and untamed,
a ravine to the mouth of the body?
or would water meet heat turn steam
and throw up luscious white plumes
of ssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
until cup by cup of sweet liquid
evaporates off leaving only
two mounds of salt behind
and enough wetness
to lick the sides of the bowl?
does bowl washed and worn want for more?
full with salt and sun but longing
for the feeling of wind running circles
around its lip?
wind to whip its salt
wind to echo strange familiar in its canyons.
whooooooo
ooooosssssshhhhh
hhhhhhhhhhhhh
salty and sweating,
sage-colored bowl will wait for wind.
when wind curls around distant mesas
and scoops and nestles
like expansive pocket,
sage-colored bowl will rest
full and shiny and open and cool.
to form two steaming pools
at your feet.
